Wayne did his basic medical training in Dunedin and Christchurch graduating MBChB in 1972. Specialty training in psychiatry resulted in MRANZCP in 1982. Assisted by a Medical Research Council of New Zealand Training Fellowship he also obtained an Otago MD in 1982 his research area being psychoendocrinology. From 1990 until 2003 he was director of Mental Health services for the Waitemata area. He continues a clinical research interest, being principal investigator of a number of research trials as well as providing supervision for other researchers. He has continued an association with the Auckland University School of Medicine and is currently Clinical Associate Professor. Wayne has always had an interest in and commitment to service improvement through promotion of evidence based practice so was keen to accept the offer to develop the Knowledge Centre as a hub for the facilitation of new knowledge and the translation of this knowledge into practice. Wayne is also Deputy Chair of the Northern X Regional Health and Disability Ethics Committee.

Lorraine joined the Knowledge Centre at its inception in 2004. Her role is to advise, facilitate, educate and promote ethical research conduct and support the subsequent dissemination of results with the expectation that knowledge gained from all aspects of research and clinical audit will ultimately be used to maximise patient and community healthcare outcomes. Lorraine is a consultant Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) and has undertaken project management and clinical research nurse roles related to clinical research trials for over 20 years in the areas of Surgical Oncology and Endocrinology. Lorraine has a post graduate diploma in Clinical Trials Management and a Masters of Health Practice in Nursing

Giovanni is of Nga Puhi descent. He has a Certificate in Health Sciences (CHSc) and a Degree in Health Sciences (BHSc) from the University of Auckland. Giovanni has a strong interest in reducing inequalities and improving systems in Health care and believes that culturally safe and culturally appropriate research methods can help limit the impact of inequalities felt by some groups. 'Gio' also acts as Secretariat for Nga Kai Tataki Maori Research Review Committee.

Greg completed his B.Sc(Hons) and Ph.D at Massey University and the University of Auckland respectively, the latter in plant genetics, cytogenetics and reproductive physiology. He has 29 years of research and research management experience through the CRI, tertiary education and health sectors, and brings a strong interest in the translation of research findings, research systems, networking and collaboration to his role.

Deshni is a Registered Nurse and also has experience in an information management & technology role within a hospital environment. Deshni's role is to liaise with clinicians to facilitate the identification of information and knowledge relevant to clinical decision making and ensure that this information is made accessible via WDHB's Clinical Electronic Decisions Support System (CeDSS).
