The Awhina Contestable Research Grant is an annual round and exists to stimulate and support original high quality, investigator initiated research conducted at or in conjunction with Waitemata District Health Board. The principle applicant for these funds must be an employee of Waitemata District Health Board (DHB) and the research must have relevance to the Waitemata DHB Regional and Annual Plans and health research strategy. Other criteria used to judge applications will be the quality and scientific merit of the proposal and the feasibility of the project overall.
In particular, new and emerging researchers are encouraged to apply with the aim of helping to develop and foster research capability within Waitemata DHB.
Summer Studentship (3)
The main objective of the Summer Studentship programme is to give undergraduate medical and health science students their first introduction to research. It is a very important opportunity for Awhina to encourage and foster future health researchers.
The studentship is open to undergraduate health science students at any of the Awhina collaborating tertiary academic institutions. The studentship period is for 10 weeks over the summer semester break and the student is required to present a report leading to peer reviewed publication at the conclusion of this time.
